TEC MTCTE Certification
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of the Ministry of Communications, Government of India, has mandated that since 2019, all telecom equipment manufactured in or imported into India must undergo mandatory testing and certification. This process must be completed prior to the sale or import of equipment intended for connection to the Indian Telecommunication Network.
Any Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), importer, or dealer wishing to operate in the Indian market must obtain a certificate from the Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) and affix the equipment with the appropriate Certification label.
Objectives of the Certification Process
The MTCTE certification ensures that telecom products entering the Indian ecosystem meet rigorous quality and safety benchmarks:
- Network Integrity: Ensures equipment does not degrade the performance of the existing network upon connection.
- End-User Safety: Guarantees the physical safety of users interacting with the equipment.
- Emission Control: Protects the public by ensuring radio frequency emissions do not exceed prescribed national standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: Verifies that equipment complies with relevant national and international regulatory requirements.
Testing and Conformance
Conformance tests are performed based on the Essential Requirements (ER) prescribed for specific equipment types. Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) acts as the Designating Authority to appoint Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) within India to perform these tests. Once a designated lab submits the necessary test reports, TEC issues the final certificate.
CNLABS: A TEC Designated CAB
CNLABS, already recognized as a globally approved IPv6 Ready Logo Certification lab, is a TEC Designated CAB. We offer comprehensive Conformance and Interface testing under the Technical Requirements prescribed for various network equipment within the scope of MTCTE.
